Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most common questions we get asked...

Genuinely, yoga is for anyone.

It doesn’t matter about any of those barriers or worries running through your head. You don’t need to “be” a certain kind of person. It doesn’t matter what age, what body shape, or how inflexible you are. It’s something that anyone can do with practice. Like anything we do, you start at a particular point and improve over time.

We know all the terms and poses can be intimidating, but you’ll pick it up in no time. Don’t let that put you off. Everyone was a beginner once, even our teachers.

Yes, you can! Well this is subjective isn't—what is “fit”?

Of course, if you regularly do other forms of movement, you will find yoga easier and possibly less physically challenging, but there are classes to suit all levels. If you don’t do any regular exercise and are new to yoga, then we recommend you stick with the classes listed below in "Which classes should I choose as a beginner?" and build up over time.

Please don't worry about how "unfit" or "fit" you are - don't let that be a barrier.

Yoga is a practice. There is no set timeline for becoming 'good' at it. The more you practice, the more you will see benefits and improvements.

You will feel the benefits much quicker if you can do at least 2 to 3 classes a week. However, even with just one weekly class, you can still experience the positive effects of yoga. Remember, it's about the journey and making it part of your lifestyle.

If you struggle with anything, just let us know. No one can do “everything,” so don’t worry. We will help, guide, and adapt wherever possible. And by the way, headstands and the splits are not requirement or day to day part of class!

Your safety is our top priority. If you have an injury or anything else you want to discuss, please let us know. We are supportive and understanding and will work with you to find the safest practice. Our instructors are trained to guide and adapt the practice to individual needs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

You should always consult a medical professional before starting any new form of exercise.

Please be aware that our studio is up on flight of stairs and sadly there is no lift.

There are so many benefits!

The National Institute of Health considers yoga a form of holistic and alternative medicine due to its many proven health benefits.

Reduces stress and anxiety
Improves balance, strength & flexibility
Improves lower back, knee and hip pain
Contributes to a healthy heart
Reduces body-wide inflammation
It helps you to sleep better
Contributes to improved mental health
Connection with others reduces loneliness and gives a sense of belonging and community.

But remember, it will take more than one class to reap the rewards.

Many people feel really nervous about what classes they should take. On our timetable, you can see when they run and find out more. Click on the class name, this will take you to a webpage that describes the class and tells you all about  it and which level(s) it is aimed at.
