Elemental Yoga Course Content

The elements exist around us and within us, on this course we will discover how to improve our wellness using subtle Dru Yoga techniques. As we tap into these powerful forces of nature, we will invite them to help us build stability in the body, enhance flow in our relationships, boost creativity, nurture the self, improve communication and experience stillness and calm. During the course you will be introduced to various archetypes that relate to the elements, for example in the earth module you will learn about the Vedic deity Ganesh the elephant. Attendees will be introduced mudras to direct energy flow.

This can be booked as a complete course with 7 modules, or as individual sessions. You will receive a course manual for each element. 

Each session will be 2 hours long, you will become familiar with each element and receive guidance on how to nourish your body, mind and soul through yoga, movement practices, breathwork and meditation.

Module One
Introducing the Elements - what the elements are and how they affect us.
We will become familiar with the 5 elements. You will be introduced to Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether (Space) and how they relate to the body and mind. We will practice a subtle flowing Dru yoga sequence that balances the 5 elements. We will discuss how it may manifest if an element is out of balance and how to we can use certain yoga practices to cultivate harmony and balance in the body and mind. The session includes a deep therapeutic relaxation and elemental meditation

Module Two
Earth Element How the element of Earth relates the physical body. This module is all about finding stability and feeling at home within the body. The earth element relates to our bones, muscles and elimination organs. We will build strength and feel grounded. You will learn about practices to help you feel grounded and the power of spending time in nature. In this session you will be introduced to the Dru Yoga foundation sequence. After we will work on a series of movements that help to release and unblock stagnant energy. Towards the end of the session, I will guide you through a deep earth relaxation, earth focus meditation and mudra to reduce stress.

Module Three
Water element and how it relates to the emotions, cultivate creativity and flow. Working with the water element we find a way to navigate and transform our lives.
The water element is associated with fluidity, adaptability and emotions.
This session is about transforming how we feel from day to day, tuning into our emotions and explore our inner worlds. The yoga that relates to the water element has a focus upon flow, attendees will be introduced to the transformative energy of the water sequence and the waves of peace relaxation.

Module Four
Fire Element. Activation of to the digestive centre, develop motivation and boost self-esteem. In module four we delve into the nature of fire and investigate its transformative qualities. The yoga in this session has a warming essence to it, moving through flowing sequences to warm the Inner fire and boost the digestive centre. Solar relaxation to revitalise the body. This module will boost your energy and feed the inner fire leaving you feeling inspired, energised and motivated.

Module Five
Air Element. How it relates the heart and lungs, nourishing the self. This module invites you to slow down and take a moment to breathe, moving slowly with finer awareness. Allow yourself to find an inner stillness. This session quietens the mind by bringing awareness to the breath focussing more on pranayama. You will be guided through the ocean wave and windmill pranayama breath practice allowing you to journey deeper into the subtle quality of air. This session is all about yoga poses to bring awareness to the lungs and relaxation to bring comfort and peace.

Module Six
Ether (Space) Improve clarity, communication and intuition. As we arrive at the 5th element the session will have a subtle quality. The focus will be on connecting to oneness. In this session you will experience the ‘Opening the cosmic spiral’ Dru yoga sequence. Through the practise of mindful yoga movements, we start to cultivate the awareness of space in the body and mind. Moving towards a longer relaxation with an extended time in meditation. This session will nourish the soul.

Module Seven
Elemental ritual sequence. Bringing all the elements together – We are connected. Grounded, calm, energized, focused and clear. In this final session we will bring everything together in a yoga sequence that balances each of the elements. There will be time for discussion around the balance of elements in yoga. We will revisit some of the key practices and allow the body to flow as we move with the elements.

Kelly Dadd is an experienced Dru Yoga teacher who has been practicing this subtle style of movement since 2012. It is a gentle, therapeutic practice and is often called the yoga of the heart. She invites you to join her on this journey of self-enquiry towards amazing wellness. Reserve you place today. Deep Elemental Relaxation
We will experience a four-stage relaxation practice, this will help you to release layers of stress and promote healing on a deeper level. This will be around 15-20 minutes. The four stages take you on a journey into the physical, into the more subtle layers of awareness with an emphasis on tuning into the element. Then resting in stillness. This is where the healing magic happens and then awakening with a focus towards the element. The relaxation process can be as effective as a restful night’s sleep. The perfect reset)

Hasta mudras are simple hand gestures, it has been recognised that Mudras deliver numerous health and wellness benefits for both physical and mental health.
