Louise Power: 07904 924673

My background is in nursing having spent 25years in Health Care. I also studied movement and dance from a young age culminating in graduation from Bailey Cox Academy. My passion for health, wellbeing, fitness, movement and flow led me to do my Yoga Teacher Training in 2010 with Steve Avian at Shamayoga School, Sheffield.

Upon opening the studio in 2014. I wanted to create a space that enhanced the whole yoga experience. I focus on small intimate classes incorporating personal interaction to enhance practise and development of mind, body and soul to result in a feeling of health and wellbeing for all students.

Yoga is my passion in life. The way I teach and practise is always evolving. I love the flow and movement and use this feel in all my classes, teaching a modern approach to a traditional form. Exploring the body and mind through breathing in movement, stillness and relaxation.

I am no different than you. I have a life that can be challenging and at times frustrating. To make the decision to choose yoga has been life changing for me and therefore I endeavour to pass on the gift of physical and mental health to all my students.

Come and feel for yourself the Power of Yoga.

Leila Braithwaite : 07958 968953

French born I and was first introduced to yoga when I moved to London about 20 years ago. Living in London was a very stressful time with a lot of pressure "living the rat race" -Practicing yoga in London gave me peace and helped me to improve my flexibility, the quality of my sleep and much more. This was the beginning of a life changing journey.

Since London, I have continued my yoga practice over the years and yoga has helped me juggling demanding jobs, family life, and other difficult times I went through. Yoga continues to give me strength, balance and focus.

I wanted to share the practice of yoga with other and decided to take the yoga teacher training in 2013 with Steve Avian at Shamayoga School. Since then I have been teaching in Louise's wonderful studio "Power of Yoga" where Louise has created this beautiful space that captures the essence of yoga. It is a wonderful feeling to share my passion for yoga with others and help others to relax, improve their flexibility and learn breathing techniques.

I continue my learning journey, I have been to various yoga retreats in France, and learnt other styles of yoga through different yoga practitioners. Yoga continues to help me in my everyday life, balancing work, being a mum and maintaining strong relationships with my loved ones.

I began practising yoga in the mid 90’s whilst studying A level Sport and immediately noticed both physical and mental benefits. During university I became more interested in alternative health and spirituality and in 2002 trained as a Holistic Therapist. In 2006 I began my Yoga Teacher Training at Shamayoga School and have been teaching ever since. My experience includes working at leisure centres, village halls, clinics and detox retreats both locally to Sheffield and Chesterfield and also in North Devon where I lived for 5 years. Since qualifying as a yoga teacher I have had two children and practiced pregnancy yoga, meditation and breathing techniques which really helped with my pregnancies and childbirth. I also worked as an outdoor activity instructor for a number of years and find yoga amazing for re-balancing my body after sport. I recently studied with Sarah Ramsden Yoga Coach for professional footballers and athletes. In addition to yoga I hold a qigong qualification with YMCAfit and have studied with a number of qigong teachers including Sifu Mathew Cohen of Sacred Energy Arts. I currently teach at Power of Yoga and run retreats in North Devon. I also work one to one with clients providing sports and holistic massage alongside yoga and meditation. My mission is to make mind body spirit practices accessible to everybody and I have set up a YouTube channel to help me spread the word of the amazing powers of yoga!

Steve Avian :07792 557105

Founder of the Shamayoga school. He is an internationally qualified (FRYOG- ICM) yoga teacher with over 30 years experience of yoga and has been teaching yoga for over 18 years. He has studied yoga in the UK, India, Europe and the USA. He is also a member of the Yoga Alliance and the Independent Yoga Network.

In 2005 I set up a Yoga Teacher Training School accredited to the Yoga Alliance that I have enjoyed immensely. So many amazing people have crossed my path and still do. My students teach me so much through the process of discovering what works for them. Essentially we are seeking the source together.

I think of yoga as an exploration, an invitation to play and to gain an experiential understanding of our potentials. We can put our discoveries to good use in the world. Yoga is of priceless value. It can offer one of the greatest means to surviving and thriving through these tumultuous times. Yoga can play a crucial role in the birthing of a new world, the vision of paradise deep within our hearts. May our journey begin anew.
